A Contemporary Point of View
"Safe Harbor" won the July Bold Brush Painting competition.
Most recently I have been concentrating on paintings with a contemporary or modern point of view. They reflect a mood of a quiet, peaceful time; and an atmosphere of mystery. The idea behind them is to create images that become meditations on what we see every day. They are meant to inspire a different reaction, a new emotion, each time you look at them. The sense of infitity that I hope to create in the landscapes and the timelessness of the still life paintings are meant to instill a a sense of calm and a feeling of inner quiet.
These colorful paintings are influenced by the impressionists, by Corbet, Hopper and Wolf Kahn: and absractionists Helen Frankenthal and Richard Diebenkorn. I like the play of color, line and texture that come from the application of many layers of paint which greatly influence the final feeling of the painting.
